Our body and mind are interlinked. Our body functions only if our mind sends signals and our mind functions only when our body keeps it healthy.
Eating healthy is necessary for both the body and the mind. Have you ever felt too drowsy after a heavy meal and want to do nothing but just take a nap? This is because the circulation of the body shifts to increase blood flow to the digestive system which reduces blood flow to the brain causing tiredness. This is where coffee comes in. Who doesn't like a good cup of coffee when you're too tired but have no time to rest. Coffee consists of caffeine which helps the brain to stay active but it's effects are only temporary. Caffeine will affect sleep and sleep time. It's okay to consume coffee during the day but when it is taken a few hours( 4-6 hours) before going to bed, there is a high possibility that it might change the body clock.
There are many other foods that might help to keep the brain alert and the body active. Green leafy vegetables, berries, dry fruits, fish etc. are some easily available examples.
Green leafy vegetables supply vitamins, minerals and fibers which help in strengthening the immune system. A study has shown that eating vegetables everyday will reduce memory loss and make the mind function better.Dry fruits have essential oils, proteins, potassium etc. that help to fight against various infections and illnesses. They also help in improving the memory and reducing stress.
Fish are high in nutrients and vitamin D, and have shown to reduce risk of many diseases. They also boost brain health and prevent depression.
The foods that help your body will also help your brain, so choose your meals wisely.
